Yea I know it's been awhile since I've given a good update and all, so I figured I just post a random rant today.
The rant is about Petshop of Horrors, one of my favorite series.
If you had the ultimate joy of going to high school with me, you know that I was passing around my Petshop of Horrors books like they were bibles. I first got into the series back in my sophomore year, one of my friends in creative writing told me about the series and said that I may like it cause I'm a fan of Tim Burton. I got the first book back when Media Play was dieing and everything was on sale, I probably read the book 5 times that night it was so good.
I started to feel pretty lonely in my fandom, so I let everyone borrow my copies of the book, in fact I've lent the first one out so many times it's very loose and the back binding has white streaks in it from people bending the book. I really don't care how the books look after you've finished reading them, as long as all the pages are still there, it's all good lol.
I have all 10 of the original series and all 6 in the sequel. When it comes to a long series like Petshop Of Horrors, I'm lenient and I give benefit of the doubt. I say in a series of 10 book, you can get away with one, maybe two books that aren't as good as the others, especially with Petshop of Horrors, which Matsuri Akino has to think of ways to introduce new twists in every chapter.
And yes some books in both series have flaws. In my opinion, book 10 in the first series is the book that makes the least sense to me. It kinda went down hill after {SPOILER} Chris got his voice back {END SPOILER}. And in the sequel, I'm gonna haveta say book 6 was the weakest. It's the longest and has more "cutesy" stories.
In fact I don't really like the sequel that much. I hate Woo Fei and how he's a bad knock off of Leon. And I almost stopped reading because I was sick of him and wanted Leon back. What kept me reading was that the stories were darker and Matsuri Akino got me to actually feel for some of the characters, I think when it comes to the sequel I found myself crying more and having more OMFG moments than the first.
I guess I'm more dissapointed than anything. It's not Matsuri's fault though. The publishing company that published Petshop of Horrors-Tokyo went under. And I bet Matsuri didn't know until the last minute and was never able to pen a proper finale.
It's sad really, one of my biggest hopes is for Petshop of Horrors-Tokyo to find a new home so that we can find out if Leon does find D or what ending Matsuri had in store for us.
But then again, with how bad book 6 was, part of me doesn't really wanna know.
Anyway that's all done with, if you want to follow me on facebook; facebook.com/home.php#/profile.php?ref= profile&id=100000290864563 {since DA insists on placing a smilie in the code of my facebook just copy and paste the code and don't put the space between the = and the p } just tell me you watch me on Deviantart and I'll approve you.
